La Tomatina Festival Spain

La Tomatina Festival Spain

I can’t beleive we did this!

La Tomatina festival SpainI put it out to a group of people that might be interested in doing the La Tomatina festival in Spain with me and soon realized I have a lot of  friends that are just as crazy as me. Brandon, Sean, Jess, Angie, Christina and I had an amazing time.

It’s the world’s largest food fight and a complete gong show. The bus picked us up from the plaza where we staying around 5am and from us the hour to get into the small town where the festival was being held. We were greeted with huge barrels full of red sangria. With a crowd of 30,000 packed into the main road of this tiny town ensured it was not for the claustrophobic. The festival starts when the crowds make their way into the centre of town where is a large greased poll with a glazed ham on top. People try to climb the pole to get the ham and it’s a lot harder than it sounds. Once the ham is taken, it’s game on! The world’s largest food fight begins!

I am glad I did it….but would never do it again.

Most of us ended up having to throw out most of the clothes we were wearing for this.
