Paris Fashion Week

How can you not fall in love with Paris? The history of the city is awe inspiring and the food, oh the food was so wonderful.

We rented this tiny hotel room by the Bastille Metro and the location was perfect. It was within walking distance to so many places. We walked to Musee d’Orsay, Musee Du Louvre, the Latin Quarter and even the eiffel Tower. Granted that was about an hour walk each way but when you’re wandering around from patio to patio drinking wine and eating amazing food, the time flies by pretty quick.  It just happened to be Fashion Week while I was there so there were outdoor fashion shows going on everywhere. The city has so much energy both day and night and the people, despite what i heard, were super friendly.

I had a total James Bond moment while I was riding the elevator up the Eiffel Tower as I was humming “A View to a Kill” I swore I caught a glimpse of Mayday chasing Mr. Bond up the staircase.

The woman I was dating at the time, Erin had been there before so it was like having a tour guide. I look forward to going back soon to explore more of that wonderful city.

We did have one scary moment on our very last night when we were on the metro with a couple from America that we had just met. A unsavory looking fellow pushed people aside in the crowded train to get right in my face and kept whispering something to me while looking at my camera in my hand. He was clearly being aggressive and everyone around him started backing off.  I handed my camera to Erin and at the next stop all four of us got off, run up 3 cars and got back on the train. We settled into our seats and just as the doors were about to close the guy ran onboard, found us and pushed people out of the way to make his way back to us. I stood chest to chest with him as he tried to drive his shoulder into me a few times for nearly 45 minutes until we made it to our destination. That’s when he gave up figuring I would not back down.

Lesson learned, do not carry your expensive DSLR around like it’s a football in plain view.
